Even through the craziness of 2020, greeting card design has kept me pretty busy. I love being able to spread some cheer or inspiration just through a simple card! Christmas of course is my favorite time of year and designing for the season always feels like an extra bonus to me. I will be working on my brand a ton in the next year but for now you can find these and more of my card designs at Cardisle. Cheers!!
I brought out my Shrinky Dink Film this past week! This idea came to me earlier this year while browsing the internet and Pinterest for inspiration. I thought wow! this would be a really fun way to bring my illustrations to life! I need to try this out and see what happens. Well I tried it and it was a success! I did have to play with the colors and size a bit. There were a couple original designs that just didn't make the cut this time around but I am super happy with these ones. They would...
One of my many projects most recently has been gift tags! I started with my line art and created tags that can be added to gifts just as they are or they can also be colored in! I love to play with Christmas themed designs any time of the year. In fact when you are working as a freelance artist, it's pretty much a guarantee at some point, that you will need to roll out a snowman or two through the spring or summer. Companies do love to plan ahead!
This past week I started with some sore muscles while I patiently wait for my massage appointments. What started out as a pretty slow paced week turned into a new adventure! I loved these prompts. There's something so relaxing about leaving out color and just focusing on lines and shapes. There really is no pressure to have a completed piece. It's more about giving yourself the time to explore an idea. You can then take that idea as far as you like. My favorite day of course was family. ♥
I LOVED tackling birds this past week! Like any sort of art, it doesn't necessarily have to be realistic. Bird shapes inspire me to think and draw in quirky and colorful ways! I really enjoy that part when it's not perfect but just plain old fun. We can really let our imagination come out to play.
So much fun exploring these sweet characters! When you make a daily practice of drawing, before you know it, you will have a well of imagery to pull from! This week I really went with simple shapes and bold color. I love how they turned out!
It's been such a fun week to play and create with a Halloween theme! Not all ideas turn out to be something solid in the end but I am able to gather enough inspiration for a handful of future projects. Some will become patterns, some greeting cards and prints. Who knows maybe I will create some embroidery patterns from some of these prompts.
Yay! Just waiting on my order of brand new shiny mugs and then I get to spend a few days with my Cricut machine. I will have these and many more super fun designs out and available for you to purchase on October 12!! Some will be cheeky, some sweet and some inspiring. I also have a handful of seasonal pieces in the works too. Do you have an idea or need something specific done for a gift? I love custom work, so let me know! I also have wine goblets for that kind of crowd. :) Follow us on...

Sam began her creative journey as a young child with a love for colorful acrylics and folksy style imagery. Creating whimsical and happy art has since become part of her regular process. Currently exploring watercolor and gouache as mediums, she's always seeking new challenges that will help her grow as an artist.

Sam's illustrations have been featured on Print & Pattern and Swatch & Repeat. They have also been published in both Uppercase and Teen Breathe magazine.

Books are now available on Amazon! Coming this year you will be able to find a wide variety of journals and creative books for kids!

The one thing that you will find ties all of her work together is her originality and the way that she executes each piece. There's a ton of love and care that goes into it all, down to the very last detail.

Sam finds gratitude in every day that she has another opportunity to make more art and create pretty things for a living. A favorite spot to sit and ponder future projects is her garden. Unless it happens to be winter, in which case you will find her at her desk, wrapped up in a warm sweater, sipping a large cup of tea.

Besides the creative stuff, Sam loves taking naps, hanging out at the beach and Netflix binging. Currently, she resides in Pitt Meadows, BC with her husband, their three daughters and fur babies, Pepper and Nick.
